Major activities
Ottawa 2 Rwanda strives to make an impact in the lives of the most vulnerable. Each area of activity relies on the partnerships and generosity of others. We can't do what we do without you.
food drive
Malnutrition and hunger are a sad reality for many in Rwanda. According to UNICEF, malnutrition affects 38 percent of children under five years of age. O2R aims to support a total of 100 vulnerable families with modest food provision of approximately 2kgs of rice, 2 kgs of beans, 2 kgs of vegetables, and 1 litre of cooking oil. These food drives will be done on key holidays in accordance with the Christian faith, namely, Easter (April), Christmas (December).
preaching the gospel
Sharing the good news of the gospel is at the core of who we are. It is through this gospel that peace is proclaimed. O2R partners with local churches and individuals in this work. From radio programming to distributing bibles to hosting online bible study and worship sessions, the teachings of the Bible are made accessible across Rwanda.
the grace scholarship program
The scholarship program is aimed to support students from vulnerable households to pursue secondary school. Secondary school in Rwanda is not free, this means that families with unstable or no income and no assets, are unable to pay school tuition. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate:
• Academic potential • Financial need: documentation of their Ubudehe rating (government of Rwanda designates categories D and E as the bottom two in the 5-tier rating). • Commitment to O2R’s five principles
